Peek at my Week- Apples Close Read and October Writing Center MEGA pack

I'm linking op with the fabulous Mrs. Wills for a Peek at my Week!
Make sure you click above to get the Chapter 2 vocabulary cards, essential question posters, and daily journal prompts for our Go Math program. I'll be back later this week to share with you a few interactive online tools we're using with each lesson.
As you'll see from my plans, we're all about apples this week!
I can't wait to see how my kiddos respond to this new close reading unit.
I'll get it posted on TpT later this week!
There are 3 passages with varying levels of text, all on the same topic.
On Monday the kids will be broken up into skill groups.
We will complete the first page of our interactive notebook together, similar to a KWL, and the groups will read the passage.
The rest of the week we'll be focusing on vocabulary, text dependent questions, and a writing extension.
If you are a Facebook follower, you know I FINALLY got my October writing center MEGA pack finished and uploaded! It's discounted until tomorrow night and you have a chance to win a FREE copy on my Facebook page!
Click below to check out a more detailed look!
All of the writing pages in this pack come with thin lines and dotted lines to fit the needs of all of our primary learners!
If you click below and download the preview from TpT, you can get this BONUS writing freebie!

Peek at my Week! Frog and Toad Are Friends

As usual, I'm linking up with Mrs. Wills for a Peek at my Week!
Oh my goodness..
This has been a WEEK, I'm tellin' ya!
We had so many plans to do the "big move" last weekend.
Except those plans didn't include a certain moving company not reserving the correct size truck (that we paid for) so all of our stuff didn't fit. So this week we've been unpacking and making the 1 1/2 hour trek to get the rest of our stuff. We're finishing up getting everything out today and unpacking... and painting... and figuring out why the furnace isn't working... and... and..
seriously, though.
We couldn't be happier to be moving into our first home and LOVE the peace and quiet of the country!
So let's get to this week and then I'll catch you up on a few of our happenings from the past few weeks!
Click below for this weeks plans and free Math journals!
I'm so excited to use this little reader's notebook resource this week for our Frog and Toad Are Friends fun!
Can I be real for a minute?
 Place value.
They aren't getting it.
We've used cubes. We've used base ten blocks. We've drawn pictures. We've color coded charts and tables. We've used peer teaching. We've modeled. And modeled. I *think* we made progress Friday.
Let's hope!
This week we take our first Chapter Test and it's all about place value. Once we finish up our last few lessons in our Math program, we're going to use the place value tab-it from this pack to review...
and *play* this freebie place value game with partners before we take our test on Friday.
Before we dive into a little of what we've been up to the past few weeks, I had a request to upload my updated Pacing Guide for this year to include the poems (from here) that I've previously shared. Snag it below!
Ok, so let's talk about the last few weeks!
I previously shared the Kevin Henkes unit I used, so here are a few of the activities and focuses we had during our Author's study! My kids LOVED this unit!

We had our very first Mystery Reader Friday!
The kids were amazing and loved listening to the story! The thank you card is from my Mystery Reader pack here.

We also had our first Warm Fuzzy trade ins!
I can't even begin to tell you how much this has revolutionized the way I give incentives. I'll seriously never look back. ever! This is from my Warm Fuzzy pack here.
We have also been building our stamina during the Daily 5 and are all set to introduce Listen to Reading tomorrow!
This little guy was SO excited our principal wrote him a letter back! (From my Aug/Sept. MEGA pack here)

Thanks for hanging in there- I know this was a long post!
I'll be back later this week with a few Daily 5 freebies and more fun! :)

Peek at my Week 9/7

Click to head over to Mrs. Wills' blog to check out other plans for this week!
We are RIGHT in the midst of starting painting the inside of our new home tomorrow, followed by moving this week/next weekend. So I will apologize for being MIA the last few weeks and this coming week!
This week we're diving in to our first Author's Study with Kevin Henkes!
We're also using our Chrome Books for the first time and beginning our NWEA testing this week... AND trying to finish running records.
Click any picture below to download my lesson plans for a closer look.
Each day I have an essential question poster that I copied onto colored paper and laminated.
All 5 of these are available in my lesson plan download for FREE!
We use Go Math, however I still create an essential question poster for each day in Math as well.
All 5 of these are available in my lesson plan download for FREE as well.
If you read last week's post, you also know you can continue to get my Math journals for free.
All 5 journal prompts are FREE in my lesson plan downloads.

Check out last week's post here for links to the fantastic poetry bundle I'm using this year and the Math centers from Amy Lemons.
Here are a few resources I'm using this week:
These Science bundles are perfect for me! I'll be teaching Science to all 4 2nd grade classes, so these will make my life so much easier this year to plan in a whole new grade level!
We're also using this paper bag book on Thursday.
As well as elements from my community helpers unit!
We're using this unit for parts of our Kevin Henkes author's study this week!
I'm working on finishing this unit up this week as well! Make sure you're a facebook follower to have a chance to get this pack for free!! (hint, hint!)
Have a terrific week!

September currently!

I'm linking up with Oh Boy 4th Grade for the September currently!
Once Upon a Time. What can I say?! Netflix finally posted Season 3! As a fairy tale lover, I was hooked from episode 1!
This three day weekend! We are moving in 10 days, so I took this time to type up my lesson plans for the next 3 weeks and I'm getting ready to head into the school to prep for next week.
That brings me to thinking...
I'm working on my to-do list for what I need to do when I head to my room. We couldn't be happier to be moving into our first home, but right now we're about an 1 1/2 hours away so I definitely have to plan out my trips! This week we're staying at my parents for the most part, so I'm also thinking about everything I need to pack for my 2 year old and I while the hubs holds down the home front with the 2 dogs.
To move!!
For so many reasons, I just cannot wait to move and get our journey started!
3 TRIPS...
What are 3 places I want to travel?
Australia.. koala bears, kangaroos.... I've always wanted to go to Australia!
Africa... elephants, giraffes... natural habitats... what else is there?
Maldives. Hey, a girl can dream, right?!
Here's to a September full of stressful but exciting changes!
