Oh my goodness..

This has been a WEEK, I'm tellin' ya!

We had so many plans to do the "big move" last weekend.

Except those plans didn't include a certain moving company not reserving the correct size truck (that we paid for) so all of our stuff didn't fit. So this week we've been unpacking and making the 1 1/2 hour trek to get the rest of our stuff. We're finishing up getting everything out today and unpacking... and painting... and figuring out why the furnace isn't working... and... and.. 

seriously, though.

We couldn't be happier to be moving into our first home and LOVE the peace and quiet of the country!

So let's get to this week and then I'll catch you up on a few of our happenings from the past few weeks!

Can I be real for a minute?

 Place value.

Whew!!

They aren't getting it.

We've used cubes. We've used base ten blocks. We've drawn pictures. We've color coded charts and tables. We've used peer teaching. We've modeled. And modeled. I *think* we made progress Friday.

Maybe.

Let's hope!

This week we take our first Chapter Test and it's all about place value. Once we finish up our last few lessons in our Math program, we're going to use the place value tab-it from this pack to review...

 and *play* this freebie place value game with partners before we take our test on Friday.

 

Before we dive into a little of what we've been up to the past few weeks, I had a request to upload my updated Pacing Guide for this year to include the poems (from here) that I've previously shared. Snag it below!

 

Ok, so let's talk about the last few weeks!

I previously shared the Kevin Henkes unit I used, so here are a few of the activities and focuses we had during our Author's study! My kids LOVED this unit!

We had our very first Mystery Reader Friday!

The kids were amazing and loved listening to the story! The thank you card is from my Mystery Reader pack here. 

We also had our first Warm Fuzzy trade ins!

I can't even begin to tell you how much this has revolutionized the way I give incentives. I'll seriously never look back. ever! This is from my Warm Fuzzy pack here. 

 

We have also been building our stamina during the Daily 5 and are all set to introduce Listen to Reading tomorrow!

This little guy was SO excited our principal wrote him a letter back! (From my Aug/Sept. MEGA pack here)
